An Ode to One of the Best, Yet Completely Unknown, Street Photographers.

I happened across this video which was just published to youtube on Dec. 23rd, 2010. It is the story about a woman who led a solitary life, yet like so many artists, has left an enormous impact on a craft and the world after she died.

This makes me think that the world is missing out What other artists or creative persons are out there? How many have gone before us and we never even knew they were there?

Dean Collins, one of the greatest proponents ever of educating photographers, often said, as people who create, people who make an impact on others via your craft, it is our responsibility to leave this creative world a better place than when we began to contribute to it.

I cant help but think, Vivian Maier's legacy of images (the majority of which the public has yet to witness) will make a resounding impact on the comprehension of our daily lives. Her images are timeless and thus will contribute to any generation's understanding of the world around them.
